Guide to Ordering Skips

Size of skip

First of all you need to determine what waste you have to get rid of. Be realistic in the amount - due to good Health & Safety practice by Davidsons Skip Hire we are not able to collect skips if the waste is above the sides of the skip. Overloaded skips that are too heavy for the vehicles cannot be legally transported.

Do you have soil or bricks to remove?

Why not use Drop Door skips? Available on all Midi skips and upon request on the Builders skips, they are ideal for the easy loading of containers. Wheelbarrows can be wheeled into the skip.

Where is the Skip going to be placed?

You need to think about access to your premises. For example, we would need to know the width between gateposts - our largest skip vehicle needs approximately 10' between gateposts. Look for overhead cables and manhole covers. Driveways that are block paved or tarmac may be a problem when the skip vehicle is lifting the skip after you have filled it. Always check about this when ordering - maybe a board to place under the skip can help.

Skip Permits

For skips that need to be placed on the road we have a legal requirement to apply for a permit with the local council. This normally takes 24hrs and there is a charge. Check with the office when ordering.

Waste that CAN NOT be put into the skip

Fridges, Freezers, TVs, Computer Monitors, Tyres, Liquid Wastes e.g. paint cans, Batteries, Gas Bottles, Asbestos, any electrical items

A seperate disposal of some of these items can be arranged for you. Please enquire with the sales office.
